In December 2018 I was invited for a workshop at the Art University of the Iranian city of Abadan in the southwestern Persian Gulf region. I was accompanied by the Iranian artist Maryam Farhang who helped me with translations and contacts to the local authorities and the students.
When we were visiting the open-air-war-museum of Abadan she made impressive recordings of some of the relicts and war-ruins near the Karun-river, the border between Iran and Iraq, where the Iraqi solders started the war against Iran in 1980.
For Maryam Farhang’s exhibition Waves Come, Waves Go, at the Schaumbad–Atelierhaus Graz/Austria, between February 28th and March 9th, 2022, we edited our video- and soundrecordings from Abadan and from the famous city of Laft (in the middle of the Gulf-island of Geshm) for the film and video-installation we called The House.
